Membership

Membership fees for 2007:- The annual subscription is currently £20.

The club is affiliated to the BMFA and the BMFA insurance and affiliation fee is compulsory. Subscriptions are due at the start of each year. The subscription this year 2007 is £27.00.

To fly at Beaulieu a permit is needed. Members can obtain a permit at the time of joining the club or at the time of annual membership renewal at a cost of £5.00 . Permits can also be obtained from "Mainly Planes & Trains" or "Hobby Stores", but proof of £5,000,000 third party insurance will be required. To fly at Lordshill you must abide by the SMAC rules for flying at that site, a copy of which can be obtained from the Electric Power Officer. Again, £5,000,000 third party insurance is essential.

Beginners are strongly advised to first go to either flying site and talk to the model flyers. Beginners should seek the help of experienced flyers to avoid accidents to both people and models. Trainee pilots are taught with the aid of the "Buddy" box system, both JR and Futaba. Alternatively models are taken up to a "safe height" before the transmitter is handed to its owner.
